A few laptop errors that impaled me with de-motivation!!

Ever since I went to China back in early March I lost quite a lot of data. Haven’t posted in awhile due to technical difficulties. First, I accidentally updated my Macbook on the plane with little battery power left while over Japan. Second, I was not able log into my Mac due to some processing error that wouldn’t enable it too fully boot up. Just showed a picture of a idle sign. After, a few days in Beijing, I finally had time to go to some geeky Internet Cafe. It was late at night, where a bunch of college students hung out, smoking and playing all kinds of role playing, World of Warcraft type of games. To make things worst I didn’t speak Mandarin. Luckily I was able to find a translator so I can use a computer to find out the process of restoring my laptop. I found a few solutions, went back to the hotel room and to my disregard nothing worked. I totally lost faith in Mac after that incident. There was no self restore mode like the IBM thinkpads had. You need a recovery disk or file. The next day I was able to find an Apple reseller store owned by some young guys about 5 miles away. I took the train and spent half my day at the store trying to recover some of the data that was lost. Was it worth it, I guess you could say so. I was able to take a whole lot more pictures. **Note to self: maybe a small net book would do for long travels.

Fast forward to now, I finally gave up my mac to a friend and swapped it out for an older Toshiba laptop. Don’t worry I didn’t switch back to Microsoft. I went Linux!!! I think switching over to Ubuntu saved me a lot of Windows headaches. I feel much free. Even though I miss my Mac. I still love Apple but I have a new respect for Linux based OS.

On to blogging. I have yet to find a desktop blogging client for Ubunut that would match up to windows live writer or ecto. I used Ecto on my mac but totally forgot to save the drafts while I was recovering the crashed hard drive. Any who, I am on a quest to find someone to create something for Ubuntu besides firefox ScribeFire, BloGTK or Bilbo. I am not a programmer nor do I want anything to do with programming. I leave it to the big dawgs to do the labor. I’ll give mad props though. So hopefully I’ll be able to start this thing up again.
